New Phuket to Guiyang service

Thai AirAsia will add a new international service from Phuket to Guiyang, China, effective 6 July.

The new flight using an A320 will serve the Phuket – Guiyang route three times weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday according to Airlineroute timetable information.

The flight will depart Phuket at 0430 and will arrive in Guiyang at 0855. The return flight will depart Guiyang at 0955 and will arrive in Phuket at 1220.

Up until now, only charter flights have flown between Guiyang and Phuket. Scheduled airlines serving Phuket from cities in China offer one-stop fares from Guiyang starting at around USD300.

Guiyang is the capital of Guizhou province of Southwest China. It is located in the centre of the province on the east of the Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau, and on the north bank of the Nanming River, a branch of the Wu River. The city stands at an elevation of about 1,100 metres. Its population was estimated at 4.7 million in 2016.

Guiyang is credited with being one of the important air transport hubs in Southwest China.

Guiyang’s main airport is the Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport (KWE) has been operational since 1997. Located east of Guiyang and 11km from the city centre, the airport has international flights to Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul (Charter), Phuket (Charter), Singapore (Charter), Bangkok, Taichung & Taitung (Charter), Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu.

In 2017, the airport handled over 18 million passengers, a three-fold increase in passenger traffic from 2010.
